19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from that period of that year.
The win also signifies he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.
But the player has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional championship, took control to push for a decider.
The opponent saved 4 initial break points in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
